Vizio E320VL Review

Featured

Buy Vizio E320VLWhen looking to buy a cheap but quality LCD TV, you’re bound to end up buying Vizio E320VL (Get it on Amazon.com). No other HDTV can match its price and still have the quality of picture and craftsmanship that this TV has. It’s a HD ready 32-inch LCD with support for resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 pixels. It’s equipped with two 10-watt speakers with SRS TruVolume and TruSurround technologies for the best sound experience.

Users of this Vizio LCD are amazed by the high picture quality, deep blacks, vivid colors, and good quality audio. Usually they are pleasantly surprised when they compare it to other devices, and it can even match some of the more expensive brands in this size. The other good sides of this Vizio TV set are smart sound adjustment for loud passages (think commercials), ECO mode that preserves power by lowering brightness a bit, USB connection for pictures slide show, many customization options in the easy to use menus, etc.

The set has a 100,000 to 1 dynamic contrast ratio, which means you’ll get really deep blacks in dark movie scenes. The ambient light sensor will make sure that the brightness of the TV set matches the conditions in your room, to display the best image possible. The HD programming on this TV looks excellent, no matter the source of the video, and the usual standard definition TV looks OK, but not the best. Of course, this is not a flaw of the Vizio E320VL, but of the outdated analog TV technology.

Its housing is made of matte black plastic with sharp corners in dimensions (with stand): 31.19″ x 22.45″ x 8.28″ (WxHxD). The stand itself cannot be adjusted; it has to be rotated with the set.

Vizio E320VL has many connectivity options. On the side you’ll find an USB connector, and on the back two HDMI ports, one component and one composite A/V port, computer video port (VGA), digital audio output for home cinema, analog stereo audio, and, of course, cable/antenna connector. The textual descriptions on the connectors provide info about the picture quality that you can expect from each of them: composite (good), component (better), and HDMI (best).

Not much more can be said about the Vizio E320VL LCD. If you’re looking to buy a budget yet quality TV, choose Vizio. You will no be disappointed.

Vizio XVT553SV LED HDTV Review

Featured

Maybe it doesn’t belong in top of the line models, but Vizio XVT553SV 55-inch HDTV will offer you a piece of latest technology for a limited budget. The screen offers extraordinary black level performance, and has a local dimming version of LED backlight, with picture refresh rate of 240Hz. For interfacing, it offers a bunch of I/O connectors, and is equipped with a Bluetooth remote with full QWERTY keyboard for all the offered Web applications. There is a bit blooming coming from the backlight edges and maybe the noise performance on standard definition content could be a bit better. But in this price range, you’ll have a hard time finding a better LED-based LCD HDTV this big and with so many features.

The XVT553SV’s cabinet is 3-inch deep, just enough to provide room for the 120 zones of LED backlighting with Vizio’s version of local dimming for some very dark blacks. The bezels that go around the screen are 2.5-inch wide with speakers mounted in 2.5-inch enclosures under the lower bezel. The LCD cabinet rests on a black oval base that provides good support for it’s 76 pounds of weight, but no swivel of the TV.

The silver dial behind the left bezel gives you access to Quick Menu which has all the main functions and adjustments such as volume, channel select, input sources, and set power off. All the other settings are left to the remote control. THE XVT553SV’s remote has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard with a total of 39 keys, and arrow pad and 4 color-coded keys. The keys are a bit small, but they make accessing Web services such as Tweeter or Facebook much easier than then usual on-screen keyboard.

To connect other devices to this HDTV set, you’ll have plenty of options. The XVT553SV has five HDMI ports, with one of them mounted on the side. On the side you’ll also find three USB ports for easy access to thumb drives. On the back you’ll also find component and composite A/V ports (one set of each), a PC (VGA) port, PC audio inputs, digital and analog audio outputs, an Ethernet port and a TV antenna/cable jack. The TV also has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity built in.

Selection of Web services offered through VIA (Vizio Internet Apps) is truly generous. For movie streaming you can choose between Vudu, Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, and more than 35 other Web Video channels. There are also Yahoo widgets including Accuweather, Yahoo News and Finance, Rhapsody, and Pandora Internet Radio, and also Twitter and Facebook apps. The streaming quality of HDTV movies is excellent for both 1080p and 720p versions.

The Vizio XVT553SV LCD is really a solid TV. The picture on HDTV content is crisp and bright, with deep blacks. The color accuracy is good, with slightly saturated reds. The wide viewing angle keeps the color fidelity and picture sharpness even at the extreme side angles. The standard definition content display is good in overall, but there was more noise than usual. The Noise-Reduction feature set to Low helped to eliminate most of the Noise, making the picture much better. The power consumption during normal usage is about 127 watts, which is on the lowest consumptions for this panel size.

With a price under 1899$ at Amazon.com, the Vizio XVT553SV LED LCD HDTV offers top of the line HDTV performance, wireless and wired connectivity, and heap of Web apps. Maybe it won’t be as stylish as other sets like LG or Samsung, but it will surely give much more in features in this price range.

Vizio M220VA LED LCD HDTV Review

Featured

VizioM220VAIf you want to get good value for your money, VIZIO M220VA is the best way to go. The M220VA is a 22-inch LED backlit LCD HDTV. What this means is that it has a full 1080p high definition resolution display for best movie viewing experience. Most of the LCDs in this price range offer only 720p resolution. The display itself has LED backlight to bring out the contrast in the picture to 20,000:1 ratio.

The picture quality of this TV is pretty good, especially when you consider the price range. The display of high definition content is just excellent, both in 720p and 1080p modes.  The picture is clear, bright, with great contrast and detail. To get the best picture, you may need to tweak the settings on the TV.  Standard definition content quality is a bit above the optimum, as it depends on the quality of the picture processing unit. But, it is something to be expected in all but top of the line HDTV sets.  The LED backlight of this TV is perfect for giving you dark black color where it should be, instead of the grayish tones found on some TV sets. It also has an ambient light sensor that will detect the lightning of your room and adjust the brightness. This feature also saves energy by exceeding Energy Star 4.1 guidelines by 33%, giving it the title ECO HD.  It has a response time of 5ms making it great for playing games and other fast moving scenes without the ghosting effect.

The Vizio M220VA LED LCD TV has only 0.75 inches thin profile, and with the added stand it’s about 5 inches deep altogether. Total dimensions of the set without the stand are 20.63″ x 14.09″ x 2.27″ (WxHxD), and with the stand it comes to 20.63″ x 14.09″ x 5.03″ (WxHxD). The screens surface has a matte finish, which is much better than the glossy surface when it comes to lightning glare and the visibility of fingerprints. As usual it comes down to ones preferences.

The sound quality of this Vizio 22 inch LCD is a bit on the low side. The built-in speakers sound thin and weak, but that deficiency can easily be fixed by a pair of external speakers, such as old PC speakers. Also, the TruSurround SRS option is better left turned off, especially with external speakers.

The Vizio M220VA has enough inputs to accommodate most of your needs. Side inputs include: composite video, RCA audio, headphone output, and an USB connector for digital photo viewing. On the back, available inputs include: RF input (cable or antenna), 2x HDMI, component video, VGA (for PC connection), RCA stereo sound, and SPDIF digital optical audio output for your home theater sound system connection. Be sure to leave enough room for connectors on the back if you’re wall mounting your TV.

To summarize, this is a very good LCD TV for the price. It has its flaws, but you would need more money to get the higher-end model. You will find it hard to beat this Vizio M220VA LED LCD TV value in this price division.
